The President and Founder of Garage Italia Customs, Lapo Elkann, has paid a visit to the BMW Group where he showed Adrian van Hooydonk, the Head of BMW Group Design, a new Italian solution for BMW i8 Futurism Edition. Elkann stated that “garage Italia Customs and the BMW brand both share all the values connected to technology evolution and the continuous search for innovation in their specific sectors”.

The i8 Futurism Edition was created in celebration of BMW Italy’ 50 years of existence. The two most noticeable things about it are the futuristic design and Giacomo Balla’s art on the exterior. It’s a replica of Balla’s painting “Lampada ad Arco” which can be seen at the New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

On the inside, you can see a classic Italian touch – the upholstery is made from a fabric used for suits, Solaro.

“There was immediate synergy with BMW Italia the very first time we met for the i8 Futurism Edition project. The BMW i8 Futurism Edition is a practice of style. It gave the Garage Italia Customs Maestros a chance to celebrate a car which is projected towards the future of mobility. At the same time, it honours Italian art with Giacomo Balla, who is a prominent figure of the Futurism movement” said Lapo Elkann.
