A few months ago, Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, already confirmed a 2018 launch date in BMW i8 Spyder. We’ve already been seeing i8 Spyder prototypes as BMW prepares for its arrival in the market. This new video however, gives us a new look at another i8 Spyder doing a hot Nurburgring run!
The open-top BMW i8 will be built under the codename I15. Rumor has it that it represents the future of cutting-edge technology for the German brand. The focus is to be as emotionally appealing as possible so that this mobility concept would sell to the consumers of the future.
Similar to the standard i8 that the automotive world loved, this is also a two-seater roadster that combines lightness, dynamic capability and efficiency while having a very alluring aesthetics.
The BMW i8’s plug-in hybrid powertrain will most likely be used with an updated battery pack and an increase in power. The current i8 delivers 360 horsepower and achieves 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h (155 mph).
Seeing this hot Nurburgring lap makes us wish the rumoured 201 release is true but we’d really have to wait at least 2 more years to see this in the flesh.
