BMW M has been strategically combining sales of their full-fledged M models with their M Lite counterparts for some time now. According to the mayor of M Town, approximately two-thirds of BMW M’s sales consist of M Performance cars, with the remaining third being the iconic M models that enthusiasts adore.
The second half of 2023 holds great promise for BMW M, with the upcoming launches of the i7 M70, i5 M60, and the recently unveiled X1 M35i. Additionally, fans can anticipate the arrival of the next-generation X2 M35i and M135i in 2024, along with the highly anticipated M5 Touring and exclusive special editions. These releases point to another fantastic year for BMW M, solidifying its reputation as the epitome of performance.
While the electric revolution is gaining momentum, BMW M enthusiasts eagerly await the first fully-fledged electric M car. Frank van Meel hinted at its arrival in the second half of the decade on the Neue Klasse platform. In the meantime, the M division is already testing a quad-motor prototype with over 1,000 horsepower. According to van Meel, BMW M’s approach to electric M cars is focused on delivering consistent performance rather than brief bursts of speed, ensuring that the M badge maintains its renowned excellence in the electrified era.
