The newly released BMW i4 M50 makes it exciting for car enthusiasts to watch BMW buyers, specifically the M3 owners. The M3 comes with the sharpest handling derived from the M Division and a 503 horsepower inline-six. In terms of practicality, the BMW i4 M50 has more power and four doors. For that reason, when the M3 buyer visits their local dealer the next time, they will have an exciting choice to make.
One of the BMW M3 Competition owners is a YouTuber, Joe Achilles. And it is expected that he’s not going to be trading it anytime soon as he just bought his M3. But, in his latest video, he reviewed if the i4 M40 is spicy enough to catch his interest.
Checking its specs will be a great start. The xDrive all-wheel-drive starts at $76,900, higher than the $72,800 of the M3 Competition. You get 479 lb-ft of torque and 503 horsepower for the higher price. The XDrive can get from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, quicker than the rear-drive car that can do it in 3.8 seconds.
Aside from being an all-wheel drive, the all-electric BMW i4 M50 also makes 586 lb-ft of torque and 536 horsepower. In 3.7 seconds, the i4 M50 can get from 0-60mph. It is slower than the all-wheel drive, but faster than the rear-drive M3. If it isn’t good to drive, therefore none of that matters. Thus, many would wonder which would Achilles choose.
Trading his M3 for i4 M50 soon would be impossible. Achilles claims that the i4 M50 is fast and impressive. However, the driving experience of a bloated and heavy to drive car wouldn’t be that exciting. Different things appeal to other people, like Horatiu, who preferred the i4 M50 to the M3. So it does not mean you won’t like the i4 M50 too. But you might also find some lacking precision of the i4 M50 that you are accustomed to driving the M3.
