All BMW models will eventually face the end of their production cycle. This is a natural process wherein older cars need to give way for newer, faster, more efficient ones that meet the desires of the customers now. For the E89 BMW Z4 generation, time is almost up. This August 2016, the last BMW Z4 will roll off the production line.
The BMW Z4 has been produced in Regensburg for the last couple of years. It has not been produced in high volume and this is a trend among all roadsters in the premium market. This August was the schedule of deprecation. Once the BMW E89 Z4 production stops, there will be a gap in the model portfolio of BMW for a few months.
This particular production cycle of the Z4 saw the change from the naturally aspirated straight-six from BMW Z4 sDrive23i and sDrive30i to the brand-new turbo four-cylinder N20. It was new then but BMW has made many engine improvement recently.
A new BMW Z4 Roadster (G29) will be created soon to fill the gap in the model range. This one will be developed in a collaboration. It will again have the traditional fabric roof and will focus more on agility and purism. Less indexing will be given to luxury and comfort.
