Tech Details for Akrapovic BMW M2 Exhaust Revealed

A few weeks back, a footage of the first Akrapovic BMW M2 exhaust prototype was released to the interwebs and it sounded great! No one knew more details about the exhaust package yet. Now, the Slovenian exhaust specialist decided to reveal more tech details that will seriously get enthusiasts drooling. Here’s a new sound video:

In the full tech specs released, Akrapovic reveals that their aftermarket exhaust will be made of titanium and is expected to bring a big improvement to the way the M2 sounds like. This material will also bring lots of weight savings for the car. Performance gains will also be added by the complete exhaust. Akrapovic readings showed that when fitted with their exhaust system, the BMW M2 gains 9 HP and 7.2 Nm (5.3 lb-ft) of torque. However, their dyno reading puts the BMW M2 in a rather interesting position.

It is simply incredible to look at the tech details and numbers published on Akrapovic’s website. According to them, the BMW M2’s N55 engine is making 393 HP and 412 Nm (304 lb-ft) of torque at the wheels. At first glance, it seems like something’s not right here. The horsepower reading is way too high at the wheels but the torque figure is just as shockingly low at the same time. How can that be?

Nonetheless, the exhaust system looks great. If you want a couple of add-ons for your car, Akrapovic is also offering a rear diffuser for the M2 which is available in matte or high gloss finish and is made of carbon fiber. The same material can be used for the exhaust tips to have a perfect match. The new exhaust is now available for orders. Pricing has not been announced.
