15-Year-Old BMW 7 Series Turned Into a Bold Next-Gen Stunner

A resourceful BMW owner in India decided that trading up to the latest BMW 7 Series wasn’t feasible, so he took a radical path: converting his 2008–2015 F01 model into an impressive replica of the brand’s newest flagship. It was a bold project that involved drastic modifications and a keen eye for detail. The result is a car that, at first glance, bears an uncanny resemblance to the G70-generation 7 Series.

Executing this transformation wasn’t as simple as swapping out a few panels. The entire front and rear ends had to be cut away and reshaped before Autokrafte, the Ahmedabad-based custom shop leading the build, could install replica headlamps, taillamps, and bumpers. They integrated the oversized double-coffin grille and the G70’s distinctive split headlights. A sporty M Package–inspired bumper design and sleek two-tone paint complete the visual overhaul.

Up close, it’s clear some original F01 elements remain. Door handles, mirrors, and even the wheelbase hint at its older underpinnings. However, the fresh styling choices—like diamond-cut alloy wheels and slimmer taillights—help mask most carry-over features. Inside, the cabin and powertrain are believed to be largely untouched, so it’s still the same 15-year-old 7 Series underneath the flashy facade.

Conversions like this are growing in popularity across Asia, where owners seek cost-effective ways to keep their rides looking modern. Online kits and local body shops enable these ambitious overhauls at a fraction of a new car’s cost. Though imperfect around the edges, this project shows how far enthusiasts will go to stay on trend with BMW’s evolving design language.

With the genuine G70 possibly due for a refresh in the coming years, it’s anyone’s guess how long this current look will remain the latest style. But for now, this souped-up F01 proves that sheer willpower and creativity can transform a dated luxury sedan into something that turns heads wherever it roams.
