A classic gentleman would want a stunning car that lasts through the decades. The BMW 507 is one that fits this requirement and has been talked about recently due to the restoration of the one owned by Elvis Presley. However, but this icy-cool 1957 BMW 503 is a close contender.
This BMW 503 is a bit old school but it really looks nice. This model was built in 1957 and is still in superb condition for its age. There are signs of wear and tear here and there but for a sixty year old car, it doesn’t feel like it has aged that much.
In its silver/grey color and blue interior, it has a classic look that fits the classic gentleman. The interior has a robustness that seems to be lost on modern cars, with every touchpoint being made of either real leather or metal. That is absolutely stunning!
The BMW 503 is powered by a 3.2 liter V8 with two carburetors delivering 141 hp. That V8 was mated to a four-speed manual transmission, with a column-shifter. While 141 hp and a four-speed manual isn’t bad for a 60 year old car, it still took 13 seconds to get from 0-100 km/h (62 mph).
Buying a car like this is not about performance though, is about going back in time to drive a truly awesome BMW.
