[Video] 2017 BMW 5 Series Shows Nimbleness in Review

The 2017 BMW 5 Series was driven by select journalists in Portugal to check out the performance of the car, even before it is released. What Car?, a UK magazine, gives us a glimpse of the nimbleness this upcoming car has to offer.

Weight was one of the things that BMW wanted to improve in this version and it is achieved by BMW engineers. Thanks to dropping a lot of kilos, it is now very agile and dynamic.

One standout feature is the BMW Integral Active Steering which was also used by the 7 Series. It allows the car to steer angles of up to 15 degrees, thus adding to its nimbleness. It also helps a lot when trying to park the car.

Another standout feature is the Dynamic Damper Control option which allows the driver to select from a couple of driving modes. The “Adaptive” function is most interesting because it is also considered a novelty for BMW cars. This mode allows the car to quickly respond to the driver’s inputs behind the wheel. It also stiffens the dampers and steering but sharpens the throttle response depending on the driving style.

Overall, the tech included here can compete with the 7 Series which is a big step up from the predecessor.
