BMW will launch a new SUV that’s going to be ultra luxurious, though a little boxy. It will sit at the top of the X lineup. The new BMW X7 will directly compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLS Class and Range Rover.
At the moment, BMW is doing public tests on the X7. The new SUV will be larger and longer than the X5 (5,25m). It will fit 7 passengers with cabin space like no other BMW model.
Ian Robertson, the BMW’s Sales Chief, told Automotive news that they will offer two versions of the new X7, with one of them being extra-luxurious. We still don’t have more details about this.
What you can see here is the rendering created by Auto Zeitung. It shows a large, boxy SUV with a huge kidney grille and sleek laser headlights.
Speaking of the engine, the X7 will probably use the standard 4.4-liter TwinTurbo 8 from the 750i. There is a probability for the plug-in hybrid variant, and perhaps even the one with the 6.6-liter TwinTurbo V12 from the M760Li.
The launch date will be sometime in late 2018.
