2019 BMW G05 X5 Test Footage at the Ring

BMW engineers are hands-on and working at the next BMW X5. The German automaker is looking to release this model as soon as 2018. Internally, the vehicle is called BMW G05 X5. This is a test footage while it was making high-speed rounds at the famous Nurburgring.

One of the interesting features of the G05 X5 is the new chassis that was made specifically for the Cluster Architecture platform. To reduce significant weight, the new X5 will be comprise of lots of aluminum and CFRP parts. The weight drop will allow for an improvement in the driving dynamics. The interior will have more room than the predecessor. The exterior though will likely be similar to what is currently being offered. These features are not seen in this test footage because of the camouflage.

The new generation B-family engine line-up will be used for the G05 X5. There are sDrive25d and xDrive25d units to be released for EU only and they will be powered by the 2-liter diesel engines with two turbochargers. The 30d and 40d models will be powered by the new B57 units. The xDrive50i model will have the N63 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo petrol engine under the hood. An xDrive40i will also be introduced powered by a new B58 engine. This is the same one that’s on the facelifted F30 340i model right now.
