This week, we dive into the mesmerizing 2023 BMW G80 M3, finished in the dynamic Macao Blue Metallic. A BMW owner recently shared their experience after delivering this exceptional vehicle in July 2023. Following a 14-month wait, the owner has clocked around 9,000 miles, revelling in the performance and aesthetics of their first M3.
The owner previously had an E90 335i 6-speed, but the G80 M3 presents a whole new level of excitement. Described as violent and precise, the G80 M3 offers a thrilling interstate experience. Although it isn’t tracked, the standard 6-speed transmission delivers more than enough speed and performance, raising curiosity about the even more powerful Competition models.
Macao Blue Metallic, the car’s standout colour, offers a unique visual experience. Under direct sunlight, it shifts from purple to lighter shades of blue. Overcast days reveal a deeper blue, akin to tanzanite or navy, and sometimes it appears black or dark grey. This dynamic colour scheme frequently garners compliments, making the M3 a head-turner.
Upon delivery, the car received an entire paint protection film (PPF) and window tinting at Speed and Tech in Sterling, VA. The owner praises the shop for their responsive and thorough service. The same team will likely handle future modifications. Additionally, the owner installed wheel spacers—15mm in the front and 12mm in the back. Plans include adjusting these spacers for a more aggressive stance and exploring enhancements like Michelin PS All Seasons tyres, floating centre caps, and various performance parts.
The owner’s wish list includes several upgrades. They desire an M Performance Front Splitter to enhance the car’s front end, which currently feels awkward without one. Upgrading to EBC Red Stuff brake pads to reduce brake dust and squeal is also on the list. The owner also considers a square setup with Edelweiss Wheels for better performance, an Eventuri Carbon Fiber Intake for aesthetic appeal, and a more robust strut tower brace.
The owner shares updates and photos on Instagram under @macaom3 for those interested.
