BMW’s 100th anniversary celebration goes beyond Munich in one large event in Monterey. The German automaker will be showcasing their amazing racing history in four premiere events to be held at the Monterey Car Week from August 18-21.
This California event is expected to be big for BMW. They are the featured marquee at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. To make sure that they come to impress, BMW will send 64 vintage BMW race cars to represent the brand.
The cars expected to be there are the 1930’s 328s to the all concurring BMW V12 LMR of 1999. This Rolex Reunion will also be the biggest gathering of BMW M1 ProCars ever assembled in the American soil.
If you’re really into the history of racing then knowing that all five factory IMSA specification 3.0 CSLs will be back together for the first time since they raced in 1975 and 1976 is enough to make you drool for this event.
BMWUSA Classic collection will also be there for the guests to see, hear, smell and feel the living history of the brand. A re-imagined version of the 2002 Hommage will also be unveiled on August 19.
The list does not stop there. Guests should expect to see a beautiful 1968 R69s car, a group of 25 historic BMW race cars, BMW V12 engine cars, first generation (E30) M3 cars, a restored 1991 Team Bigazzi E30 M3 DTM, 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL Group 4 Alexander Calder art car, 2010 M3 GT2 Jeff Koons art car, the 1937 328 MM Bügelfalte, the 1940 328 MM Carrozzeria Touring Coupe, and the Elvis BMW 507 will also make a premiere there. Now that’s a jam-packed Monterey Car Week!
