Reports say that BMW has applied for trademarks for various 8 Series nameplates. The list includes an M850i and M8. This definitely gives a ray of hope for the return of this well-loved car that bid us farewell in 1999. Though quite flawed, the BMW 8 Series was loved by people because it had so much character.
Aside from the excitement of having a BMW 8 Series, this will also be replacing the current generation BMW 6 Series. The BMW 6 Series is very gorgeous. However, it somehow lacks the aggressiveness that some people prefer.
If BMW does green light the BMW 8 Series, it will compete with the other grand tourers in the market. Can the M8 signal the development of a V12 Supercar? That’s still a possibility. It is very interesting to note that the BMW 6 Series will be stepping down if this is greenlighted. It may be a competitor to the popular Porsche 911 and it can really do good in that segment. This could be a very intelligent strategy.
An insider also leaked to Auto Express that the car is really being developed. For now, nothing is confirmed yet.
