Australia introduces the Sport Collection treatment for the 2024 BMW 118i hatchback and 220i Gran Coupe. Enhanced equipment levels and lowered drive-away pricing mark this update, preparing for upcoming generation replacements.
The 118i and 220i Gran Coupe join the esteemed Sport Collection, following predecessors like the 330i and X3 XDrive30i. The 118i is available, while enthusiasts await the 220i Gran Coupe by August 2024.
BMW presents the Sport Collection with drive-away pricing, clearing current model stock. Priced at $54,900 drive-away, the 118i Sport Collection boasts premium features. Under the hood, the 118i retains its formidable 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 103kW/220Nm. The 220i Gran Coupe Sport Collection offers similar enhancements with ‘Sensatec’ upholstery.
Both models maintain their powertrains, with the 220i Gran Coupe housing a robust 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, generating 141kW/280Nm. BMW aims to electrify the 1 and 2 Series range by 2030. Rumours circulate about the production of the new 1 and 2 Series, with speculations pointing to a start in July and November 2024, respectively.
