[Video] A Stage 2 Upgrade for the BMW E82 135i

The BMW E82 135i Coupe is one of the company’s more advanced future classics. However, it’s also one of the new models that can be easily forgotten. This is because of the great competition that BMW has with other new models in the headlines. But the good thing is several BMW fans have loved this E82 platform ever since it arrived. Its BMW 1M Coupe facade has made it even more extremely unique.

Due to the rising prices of pre-owned 1Ms, not everyone was fortunate enough to grab one of the 6,300 BMW 1M Coupe models. However, the BMW 135i serves as a good alternative for every 1M fan who cannot afford the latter or just couldn’t find one. For the pre-facelift models of the 135i, an N54 3-litre straight-six turbocharged engine is under its hood. From 2010 onwards and after its LCI facelift, the new BMW 135i wears the more-famous N55 engine.

As it appears to gain a lot of features from the 1M, the original 135i is more interesting. With the N54 engine and one turbocharger, the BMW 135i-spec produces 302 horsepower and 295 Nm of torque. It was not extremely far behind the 335 horsepower and 331 Nm of torque of the 1M. Also, you can see in the video that the 135i carries a great potential in tuning, as we see that it could’ve also become more impressive with a manual gearbox.

In this video, the BR-Performance team took a 135i’s original performance – with 271 horsepower and 390 Nm – to 402 horsepower and 415 Nm of torque. A Stage 2 upgrade is also another bonus in this particular car. Even though it was not specifically mentioned, their team modified some of the hardware and ECU map of this 135i. As a result, this beast can effortlessly tackle some great competition by just seeing those numbers.
