[Video] The BMW 1 Series Unraveled by CarWow

The new BMW 1 Series sports another four-wheel-drive layout, which again makes its fans furious. Although it’s not the first BMW to wear this layout, it’s the first one to exit from the rear-wheel-drive system. And it obviously gained some backlash the way other cars received from their fans. In this video, Mat Watson from CarWow gave us a detailed review of the 1 Series, where you can also expect how they talked about this matter.

So far, CarWow’s review of the model is possibly one of the most in-depth, which features the 118d. Although it’s not the premium version, this more decent variant would possibly make it as the headliner in the group. At least out-front, CarWow finds it strange that the exterior layout is covered although it’s already expected.

The proportions is emphasized in this matter instead of the grilles. Comparing it to the longer model from the previous generation, the hood is slightly more elevated. This is because of the engine that has been set up transversely. However, its rear-end makes up for the strange look in front.

As expected, Mat approves of the design and build quality inside the cabin. Though the other interior designs are slightly boring for some, the 1 Series is the most robust in the segment. As for the most annoying features, according to CarWow, it includes the lack of an armrest in the back. The instrument cluster is not digital but appears to be one, and the lack of lumbar support.

Nevertheless, the 1 Series boasts several good features as well making it a grander version in the segment. Mat emphasized brought up some such as the massive head-up display for a car this size. The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and Digital Car Key also comes in. When it comes to driving the 1 Series, watch out how Mat experienced it in the video.
