The reaction of BMW fans were mixed when the automaker decided to fit their first ever front-wheel drive models in the 2 Series range. The 2 Series Active Tourer and 2 Series Gran Tourer were products of these. For some, these cars were too far off from the image of BMW. But BMW is not giving up on trying to win the crowd over. The car has much to offer according to the German brand. In some days, we actually see bits and pieces as proof of this claim. Here’s a BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer seen drifting on the Ring:
The appearance of this car turns off a lot of BMW enthusiasts because it is far from the track and road dominating images of the other cars. It is longer and looks more of a usual family car than a BMW. BMW Group’s UKL platform sends power to the rear wheels only when needed and this can be seen on the video above. The driver drifts the 7-seat MPV on the Ring and the car is actually comfortable.
At one point, the driver did lose control of the car for a bit but he was able to recover. It was still a very good run considering the features of this car. It is a not a sports car that we usually see in Nurburgring but it can definitely be one if driven well.
