We welcome a new car in the BMW Welt exhibit in Munich – the latest BMW 2 Series Coupe. A gorgeous and striking M240i xDrive in Thundernight Metallic finish welcomes guests upon entrance to the iconic building. This new purple hue makes its own debut in the BMW line through the G42 2 Series Coupe. At present, it’s only exclusive for that unit. And for the 2 Series variant, other attractive colour schemes are available, such as Melbourne Red, Portimao Blue or Brooklyn Grey. But you can still select Alpine White, Jet Black, and Black Sapphire Metallic if you prefer the usual BMW colours.
With its market launch set in November 2021, this second-generation BMW 2 Series Coupe will be the latest model in its range. It’s ready to add new elements in BMW’s small, two-door, four-seat, small-engine, everyday sports cars. It’s known that the Bavarians has repeatedly dominated this class, dating back to the BMW 1600 in the original Neue Klasse. While the following model, which is the BMW 2002, created the template for the brand’s success. Therefore, relaunching this BMW 2 Series iteration is something to be excited about. Rumour has it that it might possibly be the last, but nothing’s confirmed as of the moment.
Wanting to deliver an all-new BMW 2 Series, the German brand made many distinctions in the model. It includes iteration of headlights, grille, Hofmeister kink, and taillights. Ultimately, the overall design language differed drastically from everything else with a Roundel. Inside, it bears similarity to the recent designs present in other BMW. And to be honest, the cabin can almost be mistaken as that of a 3 Series or 4 Series. Well, besides the subtle triangle pattern in the door panels and a slightly different door pull design.
In terms of performance, this M240i xDrive Coupe came iterated similar to the M440i xDrive Coupe. It houses a straight-six petrol engine that generates 275 kW / 374 PS (368 hp). Meaning it gets an additional 25 kW / 34 PS (33 hp) in comparison to the preceding M240i variant. It also has a peak torque of 500 Nm (369 lb-ft), fully available across a broad rev range between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm.
