The next-generation BMW 3 Series is set to redefine the executive saloon with a bold new design and cutting-edge features. With BMW’s “Neue Klasse” design philosophy leading the way, the upcoming model will blend modern aesthetics with advanced hybrid and electric powertrains, paving the way for a greener future without compromising performance.
The model introduces an electric variant, likely to carry the “i3” badge, alongside petrol and hybrid options. With a significant departure from BMW’s signature oversized kidney grilles, the Neue Klasse design influences are evident. Instead, a sleek “shark nose” fascia will dominate the front, offering a streamlined and futuristic appearance. This design, inspired by BMW’s classic saloons of the 1960s, incorporates essential sensors and LED lighting for functionality and style. The body retains its timeless saloon silhouette but now features simplified lines, and flush-mounted door handles for a cleaner, more sophisticated profile.
Inside, the cabin will prioritise driver-focused functionality. Drawing inspiration from the Vision Neue Klasse concept, it will feature BMW’s advanced Panoramic Vision system, projecting crucial driving information onto the windscreen. Paired with a cutting-edge 3D head-up display and enhanced voice controls, this setup keeps drivers engaged while ensuring safety. The iconic iDrive rotary controller may be retired, reflecting BMW’s shift towards more intuitive digital interfaces.
Under the hood, the new 3 Series offers robust petrol engines, including the reliable 2.0-litre four-cylinder and a six-cylinder option for performance enthusiasts. Plug-in hybrids will likely improve electric range, while the all-electric version, built on an 800V architecture, promises ultra-fast charging and impressive range capabilities, exceeding 400 miles. These advancements reflect BMW’s commitment to sustainability and performance.
As anticipation builds, enthusiasts can look forward to the debut of the revamped BMW 3 Series in 2026, followed by the launch of a next-generation BMW M3 in 2027, which will include an EV variant for the first time.
