Among the BMW 4 Series range available in the online configurators today, the M440i is the only one six-cylinder choice there is. However, that’ll be different in March for BMW announced an addition to the 4 Series body style lineup – two more straight-six engines. Beginning this Spring, both BMW M440d xDrive and BMW 430d xDrive models will be available for purchase.
Unfortunately, its market distribution does not include the U.S. but will be available in the EU. As they still appreciate most of the diesel engines. The M440d xDrive propels with the same engine the M340d Touring or Sedan has. With the 3-litre mill, it can rate at 340 HP and 700 Nm of torque, partnered by an xDrive all-wheel-drive system. This system allows the car to accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.6 seconds. And technically, that’s only 0.1 seconds behind the M440i top dog.
Meanwhile, the 430d xDrive shows off an identical 3-litre straight-six diesel, however, it comes with a single turbo this time. It’s not the same as the twin-turbo setup which you can find on the M Performance diesel model. Meaning, its rating reduces at 286 HP and 650 Nm of torque. Despite that, it is still as good accelerating 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. That’s quite fast if you look at it! Both models will use a 48-Volt Starter Generator, offering a mild-hybrid set-up. While this starter generator also enhances efficiency and dynamics.
One of the major highlights of the 4 Series range is its new guise options in Coupe and Convertible. Furthermore, starting March 2021, exterior paint finishes, such as the BMW Individual Brilliant White metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Portimao Blue metallic, and BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey metallic will be available. While new upholstery will power up the interior cabin with its new color options. Upholstery choices include extended BMW Individual Merino leather and the BMW Individual Merino full leather. Both will be available in six or four color variants.
