While some could not forgive the looks of the new BMW M440i xDrive, some try to approve of it, especially with its improved driving dynamics. This is the goal of some North American journalists today. One of them is Matt Farah, a journalist from The Smoking Tire. Like many journalists, Farah has been straightforward when it comes to the styling of the new 4 Series. In this video, he tries to test the M440i xDrive while also despising its look.
Farah was not thrilled with the M440i xDrive although he appears to have been impressed by its performance, power, steering and capability. It’s quite a fair judgment considering that he’s not just the only one to resound this same verdict. However, there are still some features that Farrah likes about the M440i xDrive. This includes the mild-hybrid system that he thinks is functioning well as it fills in the gaps in the torque. The result? He keeps the start/top on as it gives him the feeling that it helps smoothen out the powerband of the engine.
Farrah also highlights that the M440i xDrive’s refinement is surprisingly comfortable despite the larger wheels. Nevertheless, the styling of this new 4 Series is indeed another highlight. To put it mildly, the new face of the 4 Series is shocking for many. Its look even totally outshines the rest of the design of the car. It’s a design that is hardly unnoticeable. As for Farrah, it’s a “heinous” look for a possible best driving car in the world. Overall, this new BMW M440i xDrive can be considered as a GT car, but not on full-on sports car. It does not offer the same experience with an Ultimate Driving Machine although it may be fun.
