BMW continues to expand its lineup with the new BMW 5 Series Touring market launch and the first-ever BMW i5 Touring. This marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the 5 Series, combining traditional combustion engines with advanced electric and hybrid technologies.
The new BMW 5 Series Touring has just hit the roads, with the first deliveries taking place in Europe and Japan. This sixth-generation model now includes the all-electric BMW i5 Touring, available in two versions: the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring and the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring. The i5 M60 xDrive Touring boasts a power output of up to 601 hp, while the i5 eDrive40 Touring delivers up to 340 hp and an impressive range of up to 348 miles.
Additionally, BMW has introduced two four-cylinder diesel engine models for the 5 Series Touring: the BMW 520d Touring and the BMW 520d xDrive Touring. These models feature 48-volt mild hybrid technology and offer a maximum output of 197 hp. By summer 2024, the lineup will include plug-in hybrid versions and an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine for the 5 Series Sedan and Touring.
BMW is committed to electrifying its model range, and the new plug-in hybrid versions of the BMW 5 Series Touring are a testament to this strategy. The new BMW 530e Touring and BMW 530e xDrive Touring will be available in the summer of 2024, offering an electric range of up to 55 miles. These models combine a four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, generating a system output of 299 hp. The high-voltage battery is ingeniously integrated into the vehicle’s underbody, ensuring no loss of luggage space.
For those seeking more power and efficiency, BMW will introduce the BMW 540d xDrive Sedan and BMW 540d xDrive Touring in the summer of 2024. These models feature a six-cylinder diesel engine paired with 48-volt mild hybrid technology, producing 303 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque. Both models can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds, showcasing BMW’s commitment to performance.
The new BMW 5 Series Touring and i5 Touring models are available at dealerships now, with additional variants arriving by summer 2024. Prices for the latest models range from €61,750 for the BMW 520d Touring to €101,500 for the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring.
