BMW has promptly showcased the eighth-generation 5 Series G60 model, initially as a 520i in Romania without the M Sport Package. Bucking tradition, the luxury automaker chose the Czech Republic for the electric i5’s first appearance. While the M60 stands out visually, the eDrive40 is far from ordinary.
Dressed in the killer M Brooklyn Grey metallic, this Mercedes EQE rival boasts an optional M Sport Package, further enhanced by the Pro version. This includes M-colored seatbelts, a trunk lid spoiler, Shadowline black exterior accents (headlights included), and a lit kidney grille contour.
The biggest available wheels for the new 5 Series are the 21-inch, two-tone style 954 wheels. These come paired with red M Sport brake callipers. The enhanced matrix LED lights are signified by the blue accents in the headlights of the i5 eDrive40, while the black panoramic roof complements other dark exterior features.
The interior sees upgrades, too, with Copper Brown and Atlas Grey Merino leather upholstery and a crystal-polished iDrive knob. Despite not being the sportier M60, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and carbon fibre dash trim add a sporty touch. Never before has the 5 Series had such ample screen space, and it’s not just confined to the front. Rear passengers now have a dedicated display to control temperature and other settings.
In the Czech Republic, the G60 pricing begins at 1 467 700 KÄ ($66,500) for the 520i and rises to 2 523 300 KÄ ($114,300) for the i5 M60. In October, BMW will launch the new 5 Series Sedan globally, quickly followed by the Touring. The wagon version will also offer ICE, PHEV, and EV models, potentially even a full-fledged M5 for the third time.
