Beginning in January with the subtly revised 8 Series, 2022 has been one of the busiest years in recent BMW history for model debuts. Since the alterations were almost subtle, we wouldn’t go so far as to call it a full-fledged Life Cycle Impulse. The BMW M850i Gran Coupe in M Performance trim is the most practical of the three 8er variants.
This POV video features the 2023 BMW M850i xDrive as it enjoys a night out. It shows off its optional Tanzanite Blue Metallic paint, which costs an additional $1,950. Along with the performance run-flat tires, it also has the larger 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels. The interior of the swoopy sedan looks stunning in its Merino leather and Cognac finish. The Crystal controls also contribute to the upscale atmosphere. It is safe to say that whoever designed it had impeccable taste.
BMW also increases the infotainment system’s display size to 12.3 inches for this model year. This is a sure update while sticking with the previous-generation iDrive. The adaptive LED headlights, which can also get the optional laser technology, also display some changes. The subtly altered lights are placed on either side of a kidney grille with regular lighting. This 2023 M850i also receives a particular steering wheel design. This small makeover also gets an M emblem on the kidney grille.
According to recent information, the two-door body styles may not be revamped for a next-gen version. Only the Gran Coupe will remain, according to sources close to Munich. But with the removal of combustion engines, the four-door variant will also look very different. Some believe that BMW would want to keep the third-generation 8er on the CLAR platform rather than upgrading to the Neue Klasse and making it all electric. BMW will likely continue to sell the current ICE-powered 8 Series variants for around three more years. This is because the redesigned 8 Series is unlikely to debut before 2026.
