BMW F90 M5 Test Footage on the Ring

After a 7 year production run, the BMW 5 Series is due for a refresh. Check out the 2018 BMW F90 M5 as it was spotted out testing on the Ring. And oh, its also wearing less camouflage.

At launch time, the G30 5 Series is expected to have a carbon fiber roof and CFRP inserts to reduce weight. It will send power to all four corners of the car. It is also highly likely that the next M5 will deliver around 600 HP and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. Rumor has it that it will reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4 seconds. In unrestricted, the top speed can easily reach 300 km/h (186 mph). That’s almost in the supercar category!

BMW may use the 8-speed ZF gearbox from the current X5 M and X6 M models because the 7-speed DCT unit doesn’t support all-wheel drive. It can also be a dual-clutch unit designed from scratch.

The new G30 5 Series will come out late this year and the F90 M5 may come out in Geneva 2017. We’ll see more of it testing on the Ring until that time comes.
