It was a very successful 250th race in BMW’s DTM history in Spielberg. Getting a fantastic one-two result are BMW drivers Marco Wittmann (DE) and Tom Blomqvist (GB). They dominated the first two pole positions of the race. Marco Wittmann (DE) did extremely well in his Red Bull BMW M4 DTM. He brought home BMW’s 70th win in the DTM. Tom Blomqvist (GB) on the other hand took second place in his Ice-Watch BMW M4 DTM.
Aside from celebrating the one-two result, four other BMW drivers were very happy with the points that they got from this race. Timo Glock (DE, DEUTSCHE POST BMW M4 DTM) finished fourth ahead of Martin Tomczyk (DE, BMW M Performance Parts M4 DTM) and Maxime Martin (BE, SAMSUNG BMW M4 DTM) in fifth and sixth. Augusto Farfus (BR) in the Shell BMW M4 DTM also picked up two points for ninth. It was a great week for most of the drivers and there’s more than enough reason to celebrate.
Unfortunately for Bruno Spengler (CA, BMW Bank M4 DTM) who crossed the line in 13th and António Félix da Costa (PT, BMW M4 DTM) who finished at 22nd, they were not able to get the same best results from the race.
Marco Wittmann was very thankful to get this win. He admits that it was difficult to maintain the lead but the Red Bull Ring seems to suit him very well.
