Premiere of the new BMW iX at 2021 Auto Shanghai

The Brits premiere the new BMW iX with one of the most significant and world’s largest automotive shows – Auto Shanghai. It will be the first car event open to the public since the COVID-19 began over a year ago. BMW confirms in a press release that the 2021 Auto Shanghai will comply with the regulations and strict hygiene as it opens this coming April 21, 2020.

BMW’s line-up is the new BMW iX that features the latest generation BMW iDrive and showcases the all-new Operating System 8. Its iDrive 8 allows the seamless integration of additional digital services. Another focal point of BMW at the 2021 Auto Shanghai is the use of market-specific apps in China.

The iX is still under development and scheduled to go into production in nearly late 2021. It also comes in both scalable and modular, new technical platforms.

Its 5th generation BMW eDrive platform is in the new BMW iX3 and the coming BMW i4. Moreover, its architecture comprises power electronics, two electric motors, a high voltage battery, and charging technology.

These two drive units make about 500 horsepower (370 kW) powered by a 100 kWh battery pack. BMW did not mention its specific battery density. However, the automaker claims it to be larger than 100 kWh. The iX runs at a range of 600 km (373 miles) on the WLTP-cycle.

Moreover, BMW claims 300 miles of range for the U.S. BMW did not mention the specific acceleration of the new BMW iX xDrive50. Only that it can make under five seconds from 0-60 mph. Charging the iX models come in 200 kW charging speed on compatible fast chargers. In under 40 minutes, it can reach from 10-80 percent of the battery. The BMW iX also offers a quick ten-minute fast charge.

There is no pricing as of now for the 2022 BMW iX xDrive50. But, its MSRP is around $85,000 as clued.
