In a thrilling penultimate round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe at Magny-Cours, BMW M Team WRT drivers Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts maintained their overall lead in the Sprint Cup standings. Piloting the #32 BMW M4 GT3, the duo achieved a win and a second-place finish, crucially defending their narrow margin at the top.
Both races saw Vanthoor and Weerts showcase their resilience, advancing from challenging positions to secure podium spots. On Saturday, they capitalized on a post-race penalty to the race leader, turning their second-place finish into a victory. Sunday’s race was equally competitive, with the pair climbing from eighth to finish second.
BMW M Motorsport’s other teams also enjoyed success, with podium finishes in both the Silver and Bronze classes. Dan Harper and Darren Leung, driving the #991 BMW M4 GT3 for Century Motorsport, performed well, finishing third in the Bronze Cup on both days.
As the season finale approaches in Barcelona, the battle for the championship remains fiercely contested. Vanthoor and Weerts head into the final round determined to protect their slim two-point lead.
