[Video] Tour the BMW M2 G87 With M Performance Parts

The 2022 Essen Motor Show doesn’t start until December 3, but we can see the updated M2 G87. BMW hasn’t announced the upgraded sports coupe, but it has M Performance Parts. The carbon fibre accessories and the fixed rear wing are not the only things that set this car out; it also sports a colourful paint job in various colours of orange and a giant “M2” decal on the bonnet.

Including centre-lock wheels for that racing feel, this is possibly the priciest OEM-spec M2 build possible. BMW is not the first automaker to equip a road car with quick-release wheels; Porsche’s track-focused 911 variants have had them for years. Furthermore, supercars and hypercars typically have centre-lock wheels. There are indications that this wheel style will also be available for the M3 and M4.

BMW has stated that carbon ceramic wheels would not be available for the new M2, at least not at the start of production. These will likely be included in later iterations of the model, possibly for a hotter CS and CSL variation. All those carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) extras are not there just for show, BMW claims; they help with aerodynamics. A roof spoiler at the back, where there is already a wing placed on the trunk lid, is much as the side spats.

The Essen show car has a carbon top, side mirror covers, Shadowline adaptive LED headlights, centre-mounted quad exhaust tips, and other interior changes. Carbon bucket seats and an Alcantara-wrapped M Performance steering wheel indicate this is an automatic. The point is so strongly made that there are even door pins with the letter “M” on them.
