BMW introduced the M3 Touring at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2022. However, Munich’s manufacture of the super wagon didn’t begin until November. Finally, client deliveries are starting. It was only a matter of time until a tuner got its hands on the much awaited G81. The bespoke build by UK-based R44 Performance features several modifications. This includes an H&R adjustable suspension that is now in the prototype stage.
The yellow LED daytime running lights at the front are the most noticeable change. The design of these features are inspired by those on the 3.0 CSL, M4 CSL, and M5 CS. There is also a carbon fiber body kit consisting of a front splitter, side skirts, and kidney grille. It also includes side mirror caps, a rear diffuser, and dual fin ducts. Inside, there’s more of that carbon fiber for the seatbacks, and the original taillights will be swapped out for an OLED pair reminiscent of the M4 GTS in the rear.
R44 Performance completed modifications on an M3 Touring owned by Sport Wagen Handel, a high-end automotive dealer and service facility in Austria. Sport Wagen Handel also owns a second vehicle, which struts in white paint. In the near future, the British retailer will modify it as well. Look for even more modifications later in the year because the R44 will receive its own performance estate in either March or April.
Upgrading the air filters is the only thing that has changed below the hood. Expect the twin-turbo inline-six 3.0-liter engine to be tweaked for more power as the M3 Touring uses the same S58. Since BMW only offers its AMG C63 rival in Competition trim with xDrive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox, it produces a more than adequate 510 horsepower (375 kilowatts) and 650 Newton-meters (479 pound-feet) of torque in OEM form.
