Why G80 BMW M3 is the least handsome M3

The BMW M3 prioritizes functionality over style ever since. Its design elements are practical in nature. As an everyday driver, this sports sedan has never been called “beautiful” ever since. And the new G80 BMW M3 fits this image. But here are the reasons why G80 BMW M3 is the least handsome M3 of all time.

Most iconic M3 design elements are all functional. For example, the original E30 M3 may look like a box on wheels, but it has a practical design. Derived from motorsport design, it is the only M3 approved as a race car. Therefore, its fender flares and large rear wings serve their purpose. The E30 M3 does not look pretty but it has an iconic design.

On the other hand, the E46 M3 has a perfect balance and design proportions. It looks so classic with its classic design. The same is true with the F80 M3. It looks great with the puffed fender flares that show off its image as a sports sedan. Even the least favorite E36 3 Series has a more functional design. It may not look better than the other boxy E30 M3, but BMW offered it as both a coupe and a sedan. And this justified the brick-like structure.

Among all these, the best looking M3, E90/92, deserves a recognition. Its design is aging so well that it still looks fine today. The bulging hood housed the huge V8 engine. And that is the only thing that makes it fit the M3 line up of lacking some visual effort. Nevertheless, that flaw serves its functionality.

Now, the G80 M3 is the least handsome M3 of all time simply because its biggest flaw does not even serve a practical function. The most polarizing grille of all time serves little to none function at all. Some argue that this monster grille adds extra cooling to the bimmer. But BMW surely can provide that cooling without that humongous grille. Also, even the argument that it hides sensors is not even plausible. Simply because the flipping sensors sit on the front of one of the grilles.

So, the design of the new G80 M3 does not look pretty and does not have an arguable function. And this serves as enough reason why the G80 BMW M3 is the least handsome M3 of all time. Nevertheless, beauty is subjective, let us know what you think!
