Just a day after officially revealing the new 2022 BMW M4 Competition in the market, the folks at M spoiled the fans with new photos of the stylish and sporty cabriolet. With the previous gallery focusing on the exterior and driving profile, this updated gallery takes us further inside. It includes never before seen close-up details.
As previously mentioned in reports, the BMW M4 Convertible adopts the M4 Coupe elements, only with the roof chopped off. And with the top stowed, the M4 highlights its elegant yet muscular look. This is courtesy of the sleek body lines, smooth surfaces, and gracefully swollen wheel arches. Its upgraded roof, now a soft top, creates a classy performance GT look when revealed.
The roof upgrade is 40-percent lighter than the outgoing hard-top. As a result, the Bavarian brand can add the increased structural bracing required when removing the fixed roof. It doesn’t affect the overall curb weight of the car. This also significantly reduces the centre of gravity. Basically, all these technical modifications allow the convertible to enhance its agility and provide better driving performance.
In merely eighteen seconds, you have an open view with the roof easily opens even at speeds up to 31 mph. Another advantage of the folding soft-top is the expansion of trunk space in the M4 Convertible compared to its predecessors. The trunk space is 1.2 cubic feet more than before, giving a total of 9.0 cubic feet of space.
With only one spec available, the Competition gives a heap of 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque from its 3.0 litre twin-turbo I6. Its powerplant is mated to an eight-speed auto and xDrive all-wheel drive. Unfortunately for some, manual and rear-drive trims are not available for the M4. According to BMW, 0-60 mph takes 3.6 seconds, a few ticks slower than all other M3 and M4 variants.
While market launch will take place in October, its U.S. production begins in September 2021. Furthermore, the 2022 BMW M4 Competition Convertible with xDrive are available in many colour options. It includes two non-metallic colours, seven metallic colours and two frozen matte colours.
