[VIDEO] BMW M4 Competition xDrive at L’Anneau du Rhin Track

They brought together some of the best handling cars on the market as part of Sport Auto’s “Best Handling Car 2022” test. In the running are the new BMW M4 Competition xDrive and the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm, two of the best handling cars in their segment. In this video, you will witness the lap of the M4 and the laps of the other two cars. Unfortunately, you do not get to see Alfa’s lap. On the other hand, you will find all the times listed by Sport Auto in the video description.

The BMW M4 xDrive was almost a second faster than the Alfa (1:01.03) and lapped the L’Anneau du Rhin race track in 1:00.07. Thanks to its all-wheel drive, the results are not surprising, as it offers more grip on the corner exit. Although it is significantly lighter, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm is no more powerful than the standard car. However, it still has rear-wheel drive and produces more than 500 horsepower. Therefore, it will certainly pose a somewhat greater challenge.

The BMW M4 xDrive, on the other hand, is not all sunshine and rainbows. The video shows that the M4 xDrive understeers more than the rear-wheel drive car, although it is extremely fast and insanely capable. According to those who have not taken it to the racetrack and are not skilled drivers, the understeer is not particularly noticeable. But even with all-wheel drive, the M4 xDrive understeers slightly at the limits, which is surprising.

Despite its understeer, the M4 xDrive outperforms the Alfa Romeo and even the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition. So when it comes to racing, the M4 xDrive is the real deal.
