BMW unveiled the M4 CSL, dubbed “The Re-Edition of a Legend,” about a year ago in three colours: Frozen Brooklyn Grey, Sapphire Black, and Alpine White. It was no surprise when the German luxury automaker highlighted the exclusive matte paint, offered only on the “Competition, Sport, Lightweight” at the time of the model’s launch.
BMW USA’s press vehicle, boasting a pricey Individual paint job, recently received a thorough wash from AMMO NYC. Maintaining a matte paint finish can be challenging, as polishing the body may worsen the paint’s appearance. Focusing on specific areas to remove stains and blemishes isn’t recommended either. Chemical cleaning is optimal when handling matte paint, which typically accumulates more dirt than a standard finish.
In addition to polishing the body, AMMO NYC tended to the red brake callipers. This also includes the glossy black kidney grille surfaces. The car’s extensive track use necessitated TLC for the black 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels featuring 50 years of M roundels. The cabin also required meticulous detailing as various people often drive press cars.
The M4 CSL, BMW’s fastest production car around the Nürburgring, has an annual production limit of 1,000 units. The high-performance coupe, priced at $139,900, began rolling out from the Dingolfing Plant in July 2022. M division chief Frank van Meel hinted at the possibility of a more affordable M4 CS.
For 50 lucky buyers, BMW also produces a 3.0 CSL based on the M4 CSL, boasting an extra 553 horsepower (up from 543) and a manual transmission.
