Certain cars get a lot of attention from different car guys, and the new BMW M4 Competition gets a lot of it. The BMW M3 and M4 models, including the Porsche 911 and S-Class, all share the same attention from enthusiasts. It is probably due to the long-term created reputation of the vehicles around themselves. Now, it makes these cars in the segment as the respective leaders.
With the built reputation, it is common to see the BMW M4 and the M4 Competition compared to other cars. Seeing it alongside any other four wheels is usual, especially with its main rivals – the C63 AMG and the RS5. However, comparing it to those models for some car guys make it a bit boring. Or sometimes, it can be impossible as to what happened with the people from Lovecars. These guys wanted to film a drag race between the C63 AMG and the new BMW M4 Competition. Only to find that the Benz can not make it to the airstrip.
There are no reasons mentioned as to why it happened. Lovecars then had to improvise, and the Renault Megane RS Trophy-R is the only one to answer their call. The Renault Megane RS Trophy-R is not something everyone is familiar with, especially those outside Europe. Yet, the Megane RS is an impressive front-wheel-drive hot hatch money can buy. The Trophy-R even tried to battle for the ‘fastest FWD car on the Nurburgring’ title.
Renault’s spec sheet does not give a lot of hope for it against the M4 Competition. A large gap from the power says it all. The Renault Trophy-R makes 300 horsepower from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder in front-wheel-drive. Hopes that it can keep up with the 510 horsepower M4 Competition is low. It is true even after taking into account the massive weight difference of both cars. The Renault is 400 kilograms lighter than the 1.7-ton M4 Competition. However, that does not mean the drag race is no fun at all.
