BMW is gearing up to launch the new generation of its M5, and the hype is building. In a recent teaser video, a design sketch of the upcoming model caught attention by revealing details without camouflage. This sketch likely shows the sedan version, which will debut before the wagon.
The new M5 features wider, bulging fenders, typical of M models. Carbon fibre side mirror caps add to its aggressive look. The striking copper paint job stands out, though BMW will offer many other colour options.
The front grille of the new M5 (codenamed G90) is more traditional than that of the smaller M3. Its horizontal slats and flatter design set it apart. The air intake looks small, hinting at an air curtain, but the final design might differ.
The sketch reveals a red reflector and one exhaust tip at the back. Missing from the sketch is the charging port for its plug-in hybrid system. This M5 will combine a twin-turbo V-8 engine with an electric motor. Rumours suggest it will have 718 horsepower and an electric range of 43 miles. Due to the hybrid system, a heavier curb weight is expected. For the first time, BMW will also release an M wagon in the US following the sedan’s debut.
