IMSA Motul Grand Prix News: BMW M8 GTLM ranks 2nd and 3rd

Two BMW M8 GTE vehicles gain top ranks in the recent IMSA Motul Grand Prix. For the GTLM class, the BMW Team RLL wins second and third. Led by the No.24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE, the team achieves a race-high 42 laps and finishes second with Jesse Krohn and John Edwards. As for the No. 25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE, it finishes third with teammates Bruno Spengler and Connor De Phillippi. Accomplishing 2.059 seconds in the 100-minute contest and behind the champion Corvette C8.R, both of these BMWs completed finished 62 laps of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval circuit.

BMW Team RLL gains successive scores from its podium finishes. This includes Road America (P3), Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (P1, P3), Virginia International Raceway (P2), and Mid-Ohio Car Course (P2). Its latest results highlight the P2 and P3 at Charlotte.

Though still unofficial, BMW continues to rank second in the points standings of the GTLM Class. In driver points, teammates Bruno Spengler and Connor De Phillippi of No. 25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE stand third. They also strongly compete alongside teammates Jesse Krohn and John Edwards of No. 24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE as they stand fourth.

In the GTD class, No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 gains its second victory of the season. Co-drivers Robby Foley and Bill Auberben were able to catch up after its discouraging races in the last two rounds. Also, this win is the 62nd IMSA career win for Auberlen.

Another race will happen a few days ahead – the Motul Petit Le Mans race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. The BMW M8 vehicles are again at a display with the BMW Team RLL. For the viewers, a live broadcast on NBCSN will take place in two segments. The first one begins at 12:30-6:30 p.m. and will be followed by the 9:30-11:00 p.m. schedule. The race sets the go signal at exactly 12:40 p.m.
