[Video] New BMW M8 Competition vs Taycan Turbo S

Looking at the Porsche Taycan Turbo S brings back memories of how the Nissan GT-R was way back its time. It proves a remarkable performance at drag strips. So, comparing it to a car with less than 1,000 horsepower like the BMW M8 Competition Convertible might seem a bit futile to race. Yet, that is what we are about to see now. Find out more in this video from Track Day as the new BMW M8 Competition tries to take on the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

In this video, the guys from Track Day feature the M8 Competition Convertible against several cars. Yet, only one is worth checking out racing against the M8 – the Taycan Turbo S. From its spec sheet, it is clear that the Taycan Turbo S has the advantage with two electric motors. It makes 750 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque. The Turbo S has indeed outdone the 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque of the M8 Competition. However, the M8 gets the advantage with its lesser weight than the Taycan, even in its convertible model. Is the M8’s shaved weight enough to make it against the Taycan through the drag race?

Though the Porsche end up taking it in the end, the M8 Competition made it close enough to the Porsche Taycan for a surprising amount of time. The BMW M8 was able to jump off the line ahead of the Porsche Taycan. It seems that the Taycan lost quite traction on the launch. But, the Turbo S gets the spotlight again the moment it hooked up.

If you are in the market for a fast and outstanding machine, then the new BMW M8 Competition is for you. It is also a fascinating car, one that has so much to offer than the power figures. The M8 may not be as fast as the Taycan Turbo S, but then it is still ahead on few things. That still leaves the M8 a great car despite being slower than the Taycan. But it is still quite impressive of a car to hang on with the Taycan.
