Earlier last month, BMW’s Araquari plant in Brazil began production of the X4 M40i. However, this special Individual Edition will not be produced in China. As the name suggests, the special edition has a special paint job from the Individual catalogue. The Spartanburg-built M Performance X4 is only available in the standard colours, so this special edition is a unique creation.
The X4 M40i Individual Edition was built at the BMW USA plant in South Carolina. It is offered in three exclusive body colours: Urban Green, Twilight Purple and an apparent Brooklyn Grey. A blacked-out kidney grille, wing trim and mirror caps are standard in all colours. The blue brake callipers contrast with the special edition’s black and white 21-inch wheels.
In addition to the cosmetic enhancements, BMW Brazil offers extensive standard equipment for the Individual Edition. Among other features, laser headlights and a panoramic sunroof are available. Also included are two 12.3-inch screens and three-zone automatic climate control for the M40i, as well as various driver and assistance systems. Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant Plus and Surround View are included in the Individual Edition. With the X4 M40i’s Drive Recorder function, you can record 360-degree films up to 40 seconds long in the most expensive trim level.
The Individual Edition is equipped with the same turbo in-line six-cylinder engine as the standard model. When the 3.0-litre engine kicks in, the X4 M40i reaches the 100 km/h mark in 4.5 seconds and produces 387 hp and 500 Nm. The top speed of the SUV equipped with xDrive and automatic transmission is electronically limited to 250 km/h at idle.
