Hit Or Missed? See the 2022 BMW X4 M in Sao Paulo Yellow

All new for 2022, the BMW X4 M Competition Facelift arrives completely redesigned with new standard colours, such as the Sao Paulo Yellow paintwork. If you’re keeping up with the Bavarian updates, you’ll know that this colour first appeared on the new BMW M4 G82. Without any question, the bright yellow stands out among the usual monochrome hues. But, can the X4 M gracefully manage the Sao Paulo Yellow?

Don’t worry, though, if yellow is not your best pick. The unit’s standard colour schemes include a large number of hues and shades. The new BMW X3 M and BMW X4 M come in eight different colours, including the newly available Carbon Black Metallic, Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Marina Bay Blue Metallic, and the aforementioned Sao Paulo Yellow.

In terms of exterior styling, the 2022 BMW X4 M Competition Facelift gets its kidney grilled tweaked – now larger with a single-piece frame. The adaptive LED headlights also appear 0.4-inch thinner than before. With a lot of work, the front bumper now looks sportier and better than ever. Air intakes on either side of the centre one are longer and broader and are placed vertically. They follow the hexagonal form of the central air intake, angled down towards the spoiler lip in the bend towards the centre of the car. High-gloss black trim components surround them while the grille appears visually separated by a black strip bearing the iCam.

The rear-end styling of the X4 M has a spoiler installed on the trunk lid, maintaining the coupe silhouette. Mirrors made of carbon fibre are an option for the BMW X4 M, as is a CFRP rear spoiler. The revamped BMW X4 M rear bumper includes an anvil-shaped wide offset insert. This, like the lateral air-curtain panels, comes in a high-gloss black finish. Additionally, the BMW Laser Light with a range of 650 metres is now available as an optional add-on to the standard adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function.

Enter inside and the original X4 M interior styling welcomes you, with much more updated technological features. It comes with the new iDrive 7 system, which includes the German brand’s digital instruments. Such design features only bring the cabin up to date with more recent models. The temperature controls are also from BMW’s more contemporary automobiles, keeping it more brand-consistent. Its Extended Merino leather upholstery comes in three bicolour options: Sakhir Orange/Black, Adelaide Grey/Sakhir Orange and Midrand Beige/Black. Optionally, the M sports seats may come in BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery in Tartufo.
