Unveiled in February, the refreshed BMW X5 M is now reaching European dealerships. Offered solely as a Competition model, this powerful SUV takes centre stage at a Munich store displaying a variety of M Performance Parts. Adorned by the Shadowline exterior kit, it features an Alpine White uni finish, enhanced by eye-catching black accents.
Sporting 809 M style wheels, this formidable X5 M Competition boasts 21-inch front and 22-inch rear diameters. It exudes style with a matte black finish, M-branded valve stem covers, and eye-catching red callipers. The rear roof-mounted spoiler and carbon fibre kidney grille surround come from the MPP catalogue.
The X5’s Life Cycle Impulse, unlike the X7 LCI, embraces a subtler approach, forgoing contentious split headlamps and a large grille. BMW’s sophisticated design showcases 35mm slimmer headlights and “X” motif taillight graphics. Moreover, this X5 M Competition displays tinted lights and a kidney grille with horizontal slats.
BMW recently began X5 M and coupe-like X6 M production in Spartanburg, utilizing the advanced S68 engine. The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 617 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque, now improved with mild hybrid technology. Paired with a refined eight-speed automatic transmission, the initial three gears offer shorter ratios for faster acceleration.
Industry insiders reveal that BMW has assigned the G95 codename to the upcoming X5 M. Reports suggest its 2027 production will likely feature a shared plug-in hybrid engine with the new M5. The super sedan is anticipated to adopt the XM’s PHEV setup, delivering just over 700 hp without encroaching on Label Red’s domain.
