The BMW M5 – New and Improved

The first BMW M5 was probably launched way back, that is, 20 years back. The M5 car has been pretty much popular these days considering its involvement even in games like the Need for Speed series, especially the NFS Hot Pursuit 2. That’s enough for games, but considering three generations of remodeling that this car has been going through, the resultant masterpiece is simply breathtaking. Earlier, the BMW M5 came up with the V8 engine making this car better than any other out there. And with a 6 speed transmission, people couldn’t expect more.

But its time for the fourth generation to shine and shine it will!!! The all new M5 pushes the entire M division ahead with a powerful V10 engine with 507 horse power. With a 7 speed SMG transmission, your ride cannot get better than this. This simply points out that the car is nothing less than a power train with the perfect power to weight ratio. The outer frame and the engine has been specifically engineered to give a glimpse of power and at the same time, an exterior body of subtleness but also a feature of uniqueness.

A V10 engine in a sedan is a totally new concept setting it as a benchmark in the M class. The engine delivers about 25% more power than the V8 engine offering a 100 horse power a litre displacement. This means nothing but goes on to prove the fact that the BMW M5 has a pure race bred engine. The all new V10 engine has a double VANOS variable valve timing. Cylinders are individually equipped with electronically controlled throttle butterfly.

As for the gear shift, it is reported that it is 20% faster than the earlier SMG shift features. The driver has to do all the shifting in the sequential manual gear box, i.e. the S mode, as for the D mode, it is all auto transmission. The best thing about the new M5 is that it does not compromise when it comes to style and comfort, so the interiors are never a downer in this case also. The car also features systems such as the Electronic Damping Control and the Dynamic Stability Control system. The new BMW M5 also comes with high performance braking system. To be more precise, the brakes can stop the car from 62mph within a distance of 120 feet.

The leather interiors look totally awesome featuring sports seats and of course the steering wheel which is the distinct feature of the M5.
