BMW and NXP: Remote Parking Function

Meet the new feature introduced by BMW: Remote Parking function.

With the arrival of the 2016 BMW 7 Series, there were claims that it comes with 25 innovations, 13 of which entering the auto industry for the first time ever. The features include gesture control, laser headlights, and perhaps the most interesting one, Remote Parking function.

The BMW states that by using the Remote Parking option you will be able to park your 7er anywhere while being outside of the car. All you need to do is press a button on your Display Key and the car will park itself even in the tightest spot. The video above shows this feature in action.

The video was created at 2016 NXP’s Investor Day in New York. NXP is a Dutch company that produces multiple sensors used by the BMW 7 Series, one of them being the Remote Parking sensor. The sensor easily identifies if the parking spot is big enough for the 7 Series and if there are any obstacles it could hit while parking.
