Configuring the new X2 can significantly increase its price despite its lower starting position. After selecting numerous add-ons, BMW UK highlights the steep cost of the small crossover. The showcased version is the M Performance model, featuring a matte Frozen Portimao Blue finish from BMW Individual.
This X2 M35i comes with the M Sport Package Pro and M Compound brakes, which are noticeable by their grey callipers and ride on sleek 21-inch wheels. It’s enhanced with Shadowline black accents and a panoramic glass sunroof, making it a delight. BMW UK has added nearly every option to this build, from the illuminated kidney grille to acoustic glass and tinted rear windows. This approach highlights the full potential of the “U10” generation.
The build sheet reveals this premium “U10” generation X2 costs around £60,000. That’s a hefty sum for a front-wheel-drive compact crossover. Yet, the new X2 is bigger and better equipped than its predecessor and boasts a more appealing design. Despite its merits, we’d opt for an M340i or M340d Touring at this price point. These models surpass the X2 in nearly every way.
The X1 M35i and the new X2 M35i, both compact M Performance models, come with a detuned engine in Europe due to stringent emissions laws. Their 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine delivers 296 horsepower, in contrast to the 312 horsepower available in the US models. On the bright side, these European sporty crossovers match their American counterparts with 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.
