The X4 was given a slight makeover in June last year, but it is only now that the crossover coupe has arrived in India. BMW has decided to release a Black Shadow Edition to celebrate the local debut of the sleek SAV. If the term sounds familiar, that’s because other models, notably the 2 Series Gran Coupe, have received the same dark treatment.

These Black Shadow models are not limited to India; many have already seen them on a limited edition M2 in Europe and a 530i M Sport in Malaysia. As the name implies, their purpose is to make the X4 LCI look as black as possible. The contrasting red-painted brake callipers, on the other hand, are an exception. Moreover, the M Sport brakes are hidden under the 20-inch alloy wheels that are part of the standard M Sport package.
The somewhat thinner headlights, introduced with the X4’s mid-cycle facelift, have black accents and come standard with matrix LED technology. BMW India offers the M Aerodynamics package and all body modifications in black. The greenhouse with the M High Gloss Shadow Line has a black surround on all pillars.

BMW has not yet released interior photos, but the X4 Black Shadow features a leather steering wheel with an M logo. A panoramic sunroof is a standard, as well as a lighting system that creates a pleasant ambience to sweeten the deal. A rear-view camera, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and head-up display are also included. Thanks to Live Cockpit Professional, the sleek crossover has two 12.3-inch displays.
The BMW X4 Black Shadow Edition is available with two engine options and features xDrive and an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.
