BMW X5 and X7 M50d Final Edition models drops B57S engine

BMW X5 and X7 M50d Final Edition models: No longer in B57S engine

The only quad-turbocharged diesel engine in the world is going out of production. The B57S engine was too complicated and too expensive to operate while abiding the legislation regarding harmful emissions. Regardless of being known for its impressive performance. Thus, ending its production this September after a solid career on board some of the most efficient 400 HP cars.

Used on a variety of models, B57S engine was seen starting from their 5 Series to the biggest, baddest SUV that is the X7. Each one of them was powered without any issue. Offering a perfect blend of speed and efficiency, it has always been my preferred mill even on the X7.

It was first introduced on the 750d model in 2016. Quad-turbo diesel mill gave the limousine an incredulous speed with a remarkable autonomy, almost close to the 1,000 km mark.

The M50d badge has made a sensational appearance on the tailgates of the new X5 and X7 models marking them as hosts of the B57S powerplant. Because of the 400 HP delivered by the engine, the X5 M50d could accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in just 5.2 seconds. While the X7 took just 0.2 seconds more.

Sad to say, all good things come to an end with B57S going out of production this September. For that reason, we’re yet to see some special editions featuring it offered around the world.

Now equipped with a wide array of features and a special ‘Final Edition’ inscription on the door sills. BMW X5 M50d and X7 M50d Final Edition models are in no doubt ready to takeover the world. Alot of new and improved technology are included in the package like the laserlight headlamps as standard along with Crafted Clarity inserts inside, comfort seats, gesture control and autonomous driving assistants.
