2025 BMW X5 Achieves Top Safety Pick by IIHS

The 2025 BMW X5 has secured the prestigious Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This midsize luxury SUV excels in both crashworthiness and crash avoidance, underscoring BMW’s commitment to safety alongside luxury.

In rigorous testing, the BMW X5 scored “good” in key areas: small and moderate overlap front tests and side impacts. This consistent performance underscores the SUV’s robust design and finely tuned safety features since its 2019 redesign.

The SUV’s advanced safety systems also stood out, with its standard pedestrian crash prevention system achieving a “good” rating. Similarly, experts praised the LATCH system for its user-friendliness, confirming the BMW X5’s safety for adults and children.

However, the SUV’s headlights received an “acceptable” rating. They perform well on straightaways and most curves, but the low beams generate some glare. The high beams show varying visibility. Fortunately, the high-beam assist feature helps reduce these issues, particularly on gradual curves.
