The airbag inflators are a part of the passenger front airbag modules used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash launching the front airbags, these inflators may rupture because of a propellant degradation that is triggered by long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature cycling. Metal fragments can be released that may cause serious injury or death. BMWNA will shoulder the costs in fixing the issue.
