BMW didn’t hold back with the launch of the new BMW X2. The marketing campaign even features a BMW X2 Holo Experience Tour that uses Microsoft’s Hololens technology to help customers see the future. BMW Romania held an event in collaboration with Microsoft and they invited select media representatives to see first hand what this whole Holo Experience Tour is all about.
The Microsoft Hololens is basically a pair of glasses that has its own mini PC with SSD storage and AC-standard Wi-Fi. The Hololens is quite heavy so the user needs to strap it one with a headband that fastens around the head.
The system takes you to an Augmented Reality where BMW prepared a virtual showcase of the BMW X2. Every little detail – from the M letter on the M Sport steering wheel inside to different paint finishes and wheel models on the outside – can be seen as if the X2 was right in front of you.
“The X2 will appeal to a relatively new, young and digitally-savvy target group that is also looking for unique and contemporary experiences from communicationsâ€, according to Uwe Dreher, head of Brand Communication BMW. “The Holo Experience delivers the desired technical wow-effect, which we hope will maximize our appeal to this target group in a fun and entertaining way, using innovative technology.â€
We expect to see more of this technology in future BMW launches.
